Therapeutic Philosophy
I think of the mind as hardware and our perceptions, beliefs, and emotional responses as our software. Life experiences program us to interpret, behave, and sense in such a way to preserve ourselves and/or others. When our programming becomes harmful to ourselves and/or others, we experience symptoms such as anxiety, depression, muscle pain, substance use, etc. It’s not until we begin to explore the subconscious spaces that influence these symptoms that we can rewire the ways in which we see ourselves, others, and find long-term relief.
Our process will explore the relationship between your current struggle and your subconscious spaces that have created your patterns of discomfort. My focus is to work with both of these parts of you to begin exploring beyond your presenting-problem— supporting long-term relief, empowerment, and growth. I am committed to providing value to your experience and process that far surpasses Google and worksheets.
I look forward to working with you,
Evan Miller, LCMHC, LPC
